A drafting sheet, and blocks with grooves cut into them. Lay a route from the feeder to the catcher, then let the ball go and find out whether it works.
Laying a route is not the same as finishing one. A climb costs speed and a drop returns some of it, height is spent rather than borrowed, and nothing is settled until the ball has rolled.
Practice is ten courses on small boards, where the rules are learned. The Open League is twenty hand-built courses ranked by the total number of pieces used — fewer is better. Finishing them opens the Pro League. Drills builds a fresh course on the spot from a theme you pick.
In the Workshop you place the start and the goal yourself and build whatever you like. Once it has actually rolled home, it can be given away with a share code. What arrives is the problem — the answer does not travel with it. After the other person has solved it themselves, they can look at how you did it.
