These terms cover the use of Fineline Studios ("the App") and, in particular, what you may do with the patterns you create in it. On the App Store (English), the app is listed as Fineline Studios.
You own what you make. The patterns you generate are yours, and the licence below is granted royalty-free for as long as you keep using them.
| Free | Fineline Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Personal use | Yes — including posting on social media and personal printing | Yes |
| Commercial use | Not covered | Yes — products for sale, client work, packaging, textiles, merchandise, printed goods |
| Credit / attribution | Not required | Not required |
| Watermarks | None — exports are clean | None |
Commercial use means any use intended to generate revenue, whether directly (selling the pattern or a product bearing it) or as part of paid work for a client. If you need commercial rights, Fineline Pro grants them.
Fineline Pro is a one-time purchase, tied to your Apple ID, with no auto-renewal. It unlocks SVG and PDF vector export, high-resolution export, large export sizes, unlimited library saves, the full palette library, all colorways, and the commercial licence described above. Designing itself — all 17 symmetry groups, every motif, hand drawing and Shuffle — is free and unlimited.
Purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under the App Store terms.
Patterns are stored on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details, including the anonymous usage counts the App sends.
The App is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. In particular, while Fineline Studios is built to produce seamlessly tiling, print-ready output, you are responsible for verifying dimensions, colour and resolution with your printer or manufacturer before production.
If these terms change, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. A change to the licence terms never retroactively removes rights already granted for patterns you created under an earlier version.
