What changed in this update: To improve the app, we added the sending of anonymous usage counts (see Section 2 below). We count only totals of which features are used — never the content of what you read, your words, audio, or URLs. Because the app holds no identifier of any kind, it cannot identify a specific person, track an individual over time, or build a profile. We include this note to be transparent about the change.
This policy explains how Wonderline (the "app") handles information.
The app does not collect or store personally identifiable information. No account is required, and it contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. The only thing that leaves your device is the anonymous usage statistics (identity-free event counts) described in Section 2.
The following data is stored only on your device:
To make the app better, it sends anonymous usage counts to a server operated by the developer (collect.appline.app, on Cloudflare). Three kinds of things are counted, all as totals (aggregates) only:
What is sent (only this): a fixed, predefined event or screen name plus the app version number. Nothing else.
What is never sent: no name, email, device identifier (IDFA / IDFV), advertising ID, location, the text you read, your words, audio, URLs, or any other information that could identify a person. The on-device principle in the sections below is unchanged — your text and audio never leave the device.
No individual can be identified or tracked: the app assigns no persistent identifier to a device or user (no device ID, no session ID). All that is stored is "how many times, in total, an action happened" — there is no key to join these counts on, which makes it structurally impossible to identify a specific person, follow the same person over time, or build a profile.
Where it goes: only to the developer's own server. It is never shared with any third party such as Google, Firebase, or Meta. Your IP address is not logged, stored, or used, and is never associated with the anonymous counts above.
Text recognition (OCR), audio transcription and speech recognition, and text translation all run on your device. Your text and audio are not sent to the developer's servers for these purposes.
Choosing images from your library uses the system photo picker, so access to your entire photo library is not required.
Only when you import a web article by URL does the app access the site you specified to load that page (similar to a normal web browser). No personally identifiable information is transmitted in this request. Apart from the anonymous counts in Section 2, the other reading and vocabulary features do not require a network connection.
Links, text, and audio/video shared from Safari and other apps are temporarily stored in the app's inbox via an App Group and used within the app for reading or transcription. They are not sent to the developer's servers.
If you also use the review app Wordsline, only the words you explicitly choose in the Words tab are passed to Wordsline through a shared area (App Group) on your device. Nothing is sent automatically.
The app offers Wonderline Pro, a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks all features after the free trial period ends. All purchase processing is handled by Apple StoreKit and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer never receives payment details such as credit card numbers, and only learns from the App Store whether the purchase has been made.
The start date of your free trial is stored only on your device and is never transmitted externally.
The app is rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The anonymous usage statistics in Section 2 are identifier-free totals that cannot identify any person, including children.
