Motionline

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Motionline do?

Motionline helps you analyze your sports form by extracting frames from video, optionally removing backgrounds with AI, and creating strobe photos or MP4 clips for detailed review.

How do I get started?

  1. Record a video or select one from your library
  2. Adjust the frame interval and background settings
  3. Tap "Start Analysis" to extract frames
  4. Browse frames, check the ones you want, and export

What is Person Segmentation?

When enabled, the app uses Apple's Vision framework to detect and isolate the person in each frame, replacing the background with your chosen color. This makes it easier to focus on body position and form.

What is a strobe photo?

A strobe photo is a composite image that arranges multiple frames in a grid layout. It shows the progression of movement in a single image — useful for analyzing swing mechanics, running form, or any repetitive motion.

Why are my frames limited?

To ensure smooth performance, the app caps extraction at 500 frames. If your video would produce more frames at the selected interval, the interval is automatically adjusted.

How do I save or share results?

Use the toolbar icons in the frame editor: the photo icon creates a strobe composite, the play icon creates an MP4, and the download icon saves to your Camera Roll. You can also use the share sheet to send to any app.

Does the app collect my data?

No. All processing happens on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Which devices are supported?

Motionline requires an iPhone running iOS 16.0 or later.
