Journeyline — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 16, 2026

What changed on July 16, 2026: To improve the App, we added the sending of anonymous usage counts (see Section 2). We count how many times the app is launched, which features are used, and which screen tends to follow which — all as totals. Place names, coordinates, photos and diary text are never sent. Because the App holds no identifier of any kind, it cannot identify a person, track them over time, or build a profile. We include this note to be transparent about the change.

This policy describes how information is handled in Journeyline (the "App").

1. Information we collect

We do not collect or store personally identifiable information. No account sign-up is required.

The following stays on your device (and optionally in your iCloud account), and is never sent to our servers:

The only thing that leaves your device is the anonymous usage statistics (identity-free counts) described in Section 2.

2. Anonymous Usage Statistics

To make the App better, it sends anonymous usage counts to a server operated by the developer (collect.appline.app, on Cloudflare). Three kinds of things are counted, all as totals (aggregates) only:

What is sent (only this): a fixed, predefined event or screen name plus the app version number. Nothing else.

What is never sent: place names, coordinates, addresses, photos, or diary text; no name, email, account information, device identifier (IDFA / IDFV), advertising ID, or current location. We count only that a pin was saved — never where it was.

No individual can be identified or tracked: the App assigns no persistent identifier to a device or user (no device ID, no session ID). All that is stored is "how many times, in total, something happened" — there is no key to join these counts on, which makes it structurally impossible to identify a specific user, follow the same person over time, or build a profile. Screen transitions are stored only as "A→B happened N times in total"; no individual route can be reconstructed.

Where it goes: only to the developer's own server (on Cloudflare). It is never shared with any third party such as Google, Firebase, or Meta. Your IP address is not logged, stored, or used, and is never associated with the anonymous counts above.

3. Device permissions

4. iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, pins, diary entries, and photos may sync across your devices via Apple iCloud under Apple's privacy policy. We do not operate a backend server for your content.

5. Third-party services & tracking

No advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics SDKs (Google Analytics, Firebase, Meta, etc.), and no social login. The anonymous counts in Section 2 are sent only to the developer's own server, are not linked to your identity, and are not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. They therefore do not constitute tracking under App Tracking Transparency (ATT), and no ATT prompt is issued.

6. Share Extension

Links shared from Safari or Google Maps are stored temporarily in an App Group inbox on your device until you import them as a pin. The link and place content are never sent to our servers (per Section 2, we only count that an import happened).

7. Children's privacy

The app is rated 4+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The anonymous usage statistics in Section 2 are identifier-free totals only and contain nothing that identifies any person, including a child.
